What Next?

The new season is getting closer and closer which means the silly season is about to come to a close. John Terry is staying with Chelsea. This means rivalries such as the Chelsea-Manchester United rivalry and the Chelsea-Liverpool rivalry are going to stay as strong as they have been in recent times.

Frankly apart from the Manchester City - Manchester United rivalry, the Sky Blues don't have any rivals.

Peter Crouch has moved to White Hart Lane. How the Arsenal defenders handle him will affect the Arsenal - Tottenham rivalry.

Inevitable

It was only a matter of time until Sir Alex made some sort of response. With Manchester City buying players left, right and centre he had to.

Let's take a look at what he had to say:
"It won't be easy for them to win anything, even with the players they have bought.
Fair point.

"I can't look at them as our main competitors. Liverpool and Chelsea are our main competitors."
He is dissing the Manchester United - Manchester City rivalry and Arsenal would probably be feeling a bit miffed as well.

"They have bought a lot of high-profile players but they have 10 strikers. That is a hell of a lot. I have not spoken to all the managers but the one or two I have are saying 'Who are they going to leave out?'
"How does he pick a team? We are all interested."

Very good point and one that the big teams continually struggle to deal with. Someone isn't going to be unhappy.

"Arsenal have the biggest job to do because they have sold Adebayor and don't seem to have the money the rest have. How Arsene develops his team will be his biggest test. The one thing we know about Arsenal is that they will play some of the best football you will see and create chances. They could easily re-establish themselves and challenge for the league again."
Has some soothing words for Arsenal fans.

As we said before, will be a fascinating season ahead.

Sky Blues spend like Sky the Limit

Where is the Manchester City spending going to stop???? They have pried Emmanuel Adebayor away from Arsenal and making a huge play at John Terry. When Chelsea did this about five years ago, people scoffed but they won the League, have become Champions League heavyweights and turned the Big 3 into a Big 4.

What is to say that Manchester City can't do the same.

It won't have wait to long before locking horns with Manchester United. The two meet on Sunday 20 September at Old Trafford in what should be a fascinating chapter in the Manchester Unit - Manchester City rivalry. Both sides will be desperate to win this match.

The fact that Sir Alex Ferguson is taking on Mark Hughes adds an extra dimension to it.

Trouble in Manchester

In recent times, Manchester United hasn't paid attention to the Manchester United - Manchester City rivalry. With the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea to deal with, they didn't pay much attention to their local rivals but dare say that is going to change after City signed Carlos Tevez from United.

Manchester City have been busy assembling quite a team. Tevez is joining the likes of Shaun Wright-Phillips, Robinho, Roque Santa Cruz, Wayne Bridge, Micah Richards and Gareth Barry. Don't forget they are also making a huge play at John Terry.

Does buying star players equate to the makings of a star team? Is Manchester United going to start to treat Manchester City seriously?
